They Fly Right Off the Ground!
Welcome to the house of Frog, a web site devoted to the free flight model aircraft kits produced by
International Model Aircraft Ltd.
I have become something of a fan of the splendid free flight flying models produced as kits by Frog
in the 1940's and 50's, and feel they are often overlooked in favour of the better known Keil Kraft and Veron designs of the same period.
So, in an effort to make them more widely known, and hopefully
encourage more to be built, I thought I would have a go at scanning some of the plans and
placing them here for download. In many cases the original kits were die cut, so I
have tried to draw items such as fuselage formers that may not have been on the original
plan. Some bits of the plans have also been redrawn in places for clarity.
I am hoping these plans are out of copyright. They are all 50 years old or more,
and the Frog company has not existed for many years. The kits have never to my
knowledge been re-issued. So, I hope I am not treading on anyone's toes. If
anyone knows differently, please let me know!!! I think they are just too nice
to never see the light of day again.
If you are not confident of printing plans from your computer, or just cannot face sticking all those sheets together, Peter Williams can supply full size drawings at very reasonable prices for most of the planes featured here (and a great deal more!)
Just drop him an e-mail and tell him I sent you. Peter can be contacted at
peter.awilliams@virgin.net
Please send me photos of any models you have built, and let's see if we can build up a comprehensive photo gallery of Frog flying models.
Also, if anyone would like to submit any information or personal recollections of
International Model Aircraft Ltd. and their flying model kits, I would be delighted
to hear from you.
